SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern Track and Field student-athlete Ashleigh Rasheed has been named the North Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 5, the Southern Conference office announced Wednesday. A sophomore political science major, Rasheed holds a 4.0 cumulative GPA. She competed in her first Pentathlon of the season over the weekend at Clemson's Bob Pollock Classic, finishing with one of the top-five point totals in Eagle program history.
In the open Triple Jump at the Clemson Indoor Complex, Rasheed recorded a personal best distance of 11.88 meter, which puts her in third in the SoCon standings. The Decatur, Ga., native will travel with her Eagle teammates to the Samford Multi & Invitational this weekend to compete in one of the largest meets in the region.
