DAYTONA BEACH, FL.- Georgia Southern women's tennis notched a win against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Saturday, February 15th (4-3). The Eagles now hold an overall record of 4-2.
"I am proud of the team for coming away with a win today after a tough loss the day before," said head coach Amy Bonner. "The doubles point was critical in today's win and that's something the team has been aiming to achieve each match. We will work hard this coming week to prepare for our last non-conference match before we start our SoCon season."
In singles competition,
Stephanie Woods tallied a win for the Eagles by defeating Gaby Chinchilla, 6-4, 6-3.
Giulia Riepe was also successful, beating BCU's Valentina Beresiarte, 6-2, 6-2.
Mary Phillips Smith secured the Eagles' third singles win by defeating Maria Dimitrova, 6-0, 6-4.
The Eagles earned two doubles wins, securing the doubles point to take the match.
Stephanie Woods and
Giulia Riepe were victorious against Anica Ifill and Elizabeth Nyenwe, 8-1.
Mary Phillips Smith and
Jordana Klein overcame Chinatsu Kajiwara and Gaby Chinchilla, 8-4.
