SAVANNAH, Ga. – Georgia Southern's Drew Guffey carded a two-round total of 144 to place second at the Savannah Quarters Individual Intercollegiate Monday at Savannah Quarters Country Club.
Guffey was one of four Eagles who competed against a field of 37 individuals from area colleges. The senior shot a 74 in the first round and a 70 in the second. Tuesday's scheduled third round was canceled.
Christian Humber posted a 77-75=152, and Caleb Morris carded a 78-75=153. Henry Mabbett rounded out the foursome with a 78-77=155.
"This is a great way for some of our guys to get valuable tournament experience on a championship golf course," said Associate Coach Carter Collins. "Drew played well both rounds and earned a runner-up finish against a solid field of individuals, representing teams from many different conferences."
The Eagles are back in action Feb. 15-16 at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida on the Mark Bostick Golf Course.
