
Volleyball's Kym Coley Named Capital One Academic All-America

She is the third Georgia Southern student-athlete to earn the honor this season.

AUSTIN, Texas – Georgia Southern senior middle Kym Coley has been named third-team Capital One Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America, it was announced today.
The Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Coley, who carries a 4.0 grade point average in biology, is the 14th Academic All-America selection at Georgia Southern and third this season. Football student-athletes Garrett Frye and Matt Dobson were named second-team Capital One Academic All-America last week. Moriah Bellissimo, who earned first-team honors in 2012, is the most recent Georgia Southern volleyball student-athlete selected to the team.
A second-team All-Sun Belt pick, Coley ranked second in the league in hitting percentage with a .376 mark. The senior was second on the team with 2.82 kills per set and also averaged 0.72 blocks per frame. She reached double figure kills in 17 matches.
Coley was named first-team All-Southern Conference in 2013 and a member of the 2012 and 2013 SoCon All-Tournament squads while helping the Eagles to two SoCon regular-season titles and the 2013 SoCon Tournament Championship and NCAA appearance. She finished her career with 893 kills and 293 blocks in 104 career matches.
Individuals must have had a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale and be a starter or key reserve to be nominated, and Coley advanced to the national team after being selected to one of eight all-district teams in November.
