  • Georgia Southern plays its regular-season home opener against Jacksonville Tuesday at 5 p.m. The contest is the front end of a doubleheader with the Eagle men's program, which takes on Trinity after.
  • Its the 42nd season of women's basketball at Georgia Southern.
  • The Eagles are 29-9 all-time in home openers and 1-1 under Vozab.
  • The Eagles return eight letterwinners and three starters from last season's squad. Three of the top-5 scorers and rebounders are back for Georgia Southern.
  • Senior Anna Claire Knight was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team in the coaches poll, and the Eagles were picked to finish 10th.
  • Knight and junior Briana Jones were named Preseason All-Sun Belt by College Sports Madness.
  • Knight has 1,018 career points, 420 rebounds and 133 assists. No player in school history has recorded over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 200 assists for their career.
  • Georgia Southern fell 80-74 on the road to Lipscomb in its season opener last Friday.
  • Jacksonville lost 84-73 at Florida in its season opener Friday.
  • The Dolphins return five letterwinners and two starters from last season's team, including sophomore Sherranda Reddick, who earned ASun All-Freshman honors.
  • Reddick scored 25 points in the opener at Florida.
  • Jacksonville also features a transfer from Pitt in Loliya Briggs and a transfer from Colorado State in LaDeyah Forte'.
  • The Dolphins were picked fifth in the ASun Coaches Poll and fourth in the league's media poll.

Series History
  • Jacksonville leads the series, which began in 2006, 3-2. The teams renewed the series last season, and the Dolphins won 79-58 in Swisher Gymnasium.
  • Georgia Southern is 2-0 against Jacksonville in Hanner Fieldhouse and won the last meeting 52-46 in December of 2011.
  • Reddick tallied 15 points, five rebounds and four assists to lead the Dolphins in last year's meeting. She knocked down 9-of-11 from the free-throw line.
  • Anna Claire Knight scored 18 to lead the Eagles.
  • The Dolphins made 22-of-31 from the charity stripe as a team. 
  • After the Eagles tied the game 43-43, Reddick was fouled on a 3-point try and made all three free throws to ignite a decisive 18-2 Dolphin run, capped by a Deja McPhee fast-break layup, that made the margin 61-45 with 8:38 to play.
  • The Eagles trailed 43-35 early in the second half, but Briana Jones and Danielle Spencer scored four points each in an 8-0 run as Georgia Southern tied the game with 12:22 left in the contest.
