Rifle Heads to Charleston for SEARC #2

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern women's rifle team heads to Charleston, S.C. for the first time this season and will compete in SEARC #2 Saturday.

Date – Saturday, October 4
Location – Charleston, S.C./Inouye Marksmanship Center
Teams – The Citadel, Clemson, Georgia Military College, Georgia Southern, North Georgia, North Carolina St. and Wofford
Relay Times – 8 a.m. Air Rifle, 10 a.m. Small Bore, 12:30 p.m. Air Rifle
History to be Made Saturday
Georgia Southern women's rifle will shoot small bore for the first time in program history on Saturday at Searc #2. The Eagles have competed in only the air rifle discipline during the first season and the first two meets this year.
Program Bests
The Georgia Southern women's rifle team has shot two of their best scores in program history in the first two meets of the 2014-15 season. The Eagles shot a 2551 in their second-ever victory at Georgia Military College in the season opener.
Score to Beat
Kathryn Youngblood shot an individual-best 578 during the SEARC Championships a year ago and the score still remains the best in program history. Youngblood came close to her personal best after shooting a 571 at SEARC #1 in September.
Sophomore Campaign
The Georgia Southern women's rifle program is in its second season of competition. The newest sport on campus when it was announced on April of 2013, the rifle team returned five student-athletes from the inaugural team.
Second-Year SEARC
The Georgia Southern women's rifle time is in their second year as a member of the Southeastern Air Rifle Conference. The league includes a number of teams throughout the South East including, N.C. State, The Citadel, North Georgia, UAB and Georgia Military College.
