Men’s Soccer Visits App State for Sun Belt Clash

Kickoff set for 7 p.m.

STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Men's Soccer plays its first Sun Belt road contest on Saturday night with a trip to face Appalachian State. The Eagles and Mountaineers square-off for the first time as Sun Belt Conference foes on at 7 p.m.

28TH MEETING IN SERIES HISTORY
The Eagles and Mountaineers square-off for the 28th time in series history in a series that dates back to 1984. Saturday's match will be the first contest since both teams joined the Sun Belt Conference. Last season the Eagles took a 1-0 win over the Apps to snap a four-match winless streak against the Mountaineers.

EAGLES ONE POINT OFF THE MARK
Georgia Southern is currently in a three-way tie for third place in the Sun Belt Conference after two rounds of league play and just one point off first place. All three of the Eagles' final league opponents are currently below the Eagles in the league standings.

EAGLE OFFENSE GETS THE GOALS
Offensively the Eagles are ranked 27th nationally and tops in the Sun Belt with 1.91 goals per game.

SPREADING THE GOALS AROUND
This season, 11 different Eagles have combined to score the team's 21 goals. Dalton Churchwell, Josh Ward, Adam Abdellaoui, Landon Barrow, Nick Wells and Thor Svienbjornsson have scored opened their scoring accounts at GS with goals this year.

SUN BELT TOURNAMENT COMING SOON TO STATESBORO
Along with joining a new conference, Georgia Southern Men's Soccer will have another first in November of 2014 when the Eagles host the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. It will be the first time that the Eagles have hosted a postseason men's soccer tournament at Eagle Field.

NEXT TIME YOU SEE US…
The Eagles are on the road again on Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. game against North Carolina. Georgia Southern returns to the friendly confines on November 2nd for the regular season home finale against NJIT.
