SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern volleyball junior Jamie DeRatt has been named the Southern Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today.
It's the second Offensive Player of the Week honor for DeRatt and the fourth weekly award for the Eagles. Crysten Curry was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 9, and Kym Coley earned Student-Athlete of the Week accolades Sept. 4.
DeRatt averaged 4.22 kills, 3.56 digs and 0.78 blocks per set in leading the Eagles to a pair of SoCon victories last week. The outside hitter tallied career highs of 23 kills and 19 digs to go along with four blocks in a 3-1 victory over Elon. She collected 15 kills, 13 digs and three blocks in a 3-2 victory over UNCG. DeRatt hit .238 with just 13 errors in 105 attack attempts for the week.
Georgia Southern is 14-2 this season and currently riding an eight-match win streak. GSU returns to action Tuesday as the Eagles take on The Citadel in a 6 p.m. SoCon match in Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles cap an 11-match homestand with a 6 p.m. contest against Furman Friday, Oct. 4.
