SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern's Scott Wolfes has been named the Southern Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced today. It's the second time the sophomore has earned the honor this season.
Wolfes shot a 212 (-4) to tie for fifth at the Schenkel Invitational, the first top-5 finish for an Eagle at the Schenkel since Logan Blondell placed third in 2008. Wolfes played his final three holes of each round a combined 6-under par in leading the squad to a sixth-place finish in the 15-team field, which included 14 of the top 100 teams in the nation and seven of the top 50 (GolfWeek/Sagarin rankings).
Wolfes finished ahead of 16 players ranked in GolfWeek's top-100, and it was his seventh top-10 and sixth top-5 finish of the season. He has seven top-five and nine top-10 outings in his career.
Georgia Southern is back in action at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate April 8-9, in Tampa, Fla.
