INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The invitation list for the NFL Scouting Combine has been released and Georgia Southern All-American J.J. Wilcox will participate in the week-long showcase event in Indianapolis, Ind., Feb. 20-26. Wilcox earned a spot on the Senior Bowl's South roster and garnered the attention of several NFL teams during the week leading up to the game last month in Mobile, Ala. The invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine, however, still came as a little bit of a surprise to Wilcox.
"It is a dream come true and I am so excited, it could have been anybody in the world who received this opportunity," said J.J. Wilcox. "Without the guys on my team, and our defense, I wouldn't be where I am right now. Everything they did gave me a chance to get exposure and allow me the chance to take this next step. I am going to cherish every second and make sure I do the best I can to represent Georgia Southern University, my team and our alumni and fans. "
Wilcox is currently in Florida preparing for his opportunities at the next level with a regiment that includes speed training, strength and conditioning, and meetings with coaches to work on technique and NFL game strategy.
"To receive an invitation to join the elite college football players in the country at the NFL Combine is a tremendous honor for J.J. Wilcox and a great source of pride for our Georgia Southern Football program," said Eagle Head Football Coach Jeff Monken. "We are incredibly proud of J.J. and wish him great success in his football career in the NFL. He has earned this opportunity because of his hard work and relentless passion for the game of football."
The NFL Network will provide four days of coverage of the "Path to Primetime" from the NFL Scouting Combine Feb. 23-26.
