GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Scott Wolfes shot a two-round total of 136 at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the campus of the University of Florida Saturday afternoon and leads the SunTrust Gator Invitational.
The Eagles are in eighth place in the team standings, one stroke ahead of ninth-place Memphis and four strokes behind fifth-place Alabama-Birmingham.
Wolfes began his second round on hole 8 and birdied three of his first seven holes. After bogies on 16 and 18, the sophomore birdied three of the final seven holes for a 4-under 66. He logged two birdies and two bogies to finish the first round at even par.
Will Evans, who started the day on hole 10, eagled 14 and birdied 17 to finish the back nine at 2-under. The junior played the front nine at 2-over to finish the first round at even par. He bogeyed the first hole of his second round but got back on track by recording pars on the next seven holes en route to posting a 74.
Hayden Anderson recorded three birdies in five holes in the middle of his second round en route to carding a 1-over 71. The junior posted a 79 in the first round.
"Scott played great all day, and we had some solid rounds from Will and Hayden," said Georgia Southern coach Larry Mays. "We didn't finish off the second round well, and that cost us. We need to commit on every shot tomorrow and stay focused to move up the board."
Blake Olson played the back nine even and was plus-2 on the front to finish the first round at 2-over. The senior slipped up in the second round, carding an 83.
Charlie Martin recorded a 77 in both rounds, and Henry Mabbett, who is playing as an individual, carded a 75 in the first round and a 76 in the second.
The Eagles play the third and final round tomorrow.
