A couple of blocked kicks, four interceptions, 13 knockdowns and a first-career touchdown reception, all in this week's "By the Numbers."

STATESBORO, Ga. – "By the Numbers" spotlights each week some of the interesting statistics, rankings and milestones as they relate to the Georgia Southern Football program.

First career reception and first career touchdown reception by redshirt freshman tight end Da'Quan Heard who caught a 19-yard pass from Jerick McKinnon to complete the Eagles' successful scoring drive at the beginning of the second quarter against Western Carolina.

Blocked kicks by sophomore defensive lineman Jonathan Battle with one in each of the last two weeks. Battle blocked point after attempts by the Paladins and the Catamounts. Freshman defensive end Bernard Dawson blocked a Mountaineer field goal in October.

Number of interceptions by Georgia Southern in Saturday's game with senior cornerback Lavelle Westbrooks and sophomore safety Matt Dobson each picking off two. The last time a player had two interceptions in a game was on December 10, 2011 when Jerick McKinnon had two against Maine.

With his two interceptions and a pass breakup against the Catamounts took over first place in the Southern Conference rankings for passes defended with nine total. Westbrooks has seven PBUs on the year and moves up to a tie for sixth place on the Eagles' career PBU list with David Young and Rob Stockton.

With its 19th consecutive series win over Western Carolina, the streak ranks 10th among NCAA FCS teams overall and is second on the current active list. The series between William & Mary and VMI, with the Tribe owning 25 consecutive wins, is the only one higher among active rivalries.

Number of knockdowns by senior offensive guard Zach Lonas against the Catamounts. Lonas, who won the coveted "belt trophy" for the highest total in Saturday's game, had 14 last week and is second on the team with 58 total this season.

Team high total for 2013 and career-best tackles in a single game for Eagle Kyle Oehlbeck who had six solo and eight assisted tackles against Western Carolina Saturday. The senior linebacker also registered a tackle for loss.

With Jerick McKinnon's two rushing touchdowns against Western Carolina, the senior quarterback is now tied for seventh place all-time on the Georgia Southern career rushing touchdowns list. McKinnon is tied with Tracy Ham with 41.

With 925 yards in 2013, Jerick McKinnon is now just 61 yards shy of tying Eagle great Jayson Foster (3,835) on the Georgia Southern career rushing yards list. McKinnon has 3,774 to date and currently stands in fifth place overall.

Eight different Eagles contributed to Georgia Southern's 345 rushing yards in the victory over Western Carolina, which included four carries of 30 yards or more. The Eagles won their ninth NCAA rushing title in 2012 and have posted the top team rushing average among for both the FBS and FCS throughout the 2013 season.
