STATESBORO, Ga. – Andrea Fisher posted 21 kills, 18 digs and five blocks, and Furman brought Georgia Southern volleyball's nine-match win streak to an end with a 3-2 (25-23, 18-25, 21-25, 25-15, 15-9) Southern Conference victory over the Eagles in Hanner Fieldhouse Friday night.

The Eagles (15-3, 3-1 SoCon) had four players with double-figure kills, led by Nicole Jeschelnik's 19 to go along with 17 digs. Jamie DeRatt posted 16 kills and 20 digs, and Kym Coley added 16 kills and three blocks.

Katie Bange finished with 12 kills, while Katalin Minnerly recorded 51 assists and 16 digs. Alexandra Beecher collected 27 digs.

Christina Dorismond posted 17 kills for Furman (8-7, 4-0 SoCon), and Jo Wilks had 46 assists and nine digs. Elle Ross finished with a match high 29 digs.

The Eagles were in control of the match , having won two straight sets after dropping the first, but Furman ratcheted up the pressure on their serve and was able to get Georgia Southern out of synch in the fourth set. The Eagles wound up hitting .000 with 10 errors in the set, falling 25-15.

Furman took control of the fifth set midway through the frame after the Eagles held an 8-7 lead when the teams switched sides. Ashton Gregory got a kill to tie the score, and Dorismond added three straight kills as the Paladins opened an 11-8 lead.

DeRatt stopped the run with a kill for Georgia Southern but it was the last point the Eagles would score. Dorismond and Annie Bierman answered with kills for Furman, and after a GSU hitting error, Fisher sealed the win with a kill. The Paladins hit .478 in the set with 12 kills and only one error. Georgia Southern hit .043 with just four kills.

"Serving and passing – that's what it came down to - and they outserved us," said Georgia Southern coach Dustin Wood. "They had the green light in the fourth set to serve aggressively, and we didn't handle it well. We have to learn to work through when things aren't going our way and be okay with being in pressure situations."

The Eagles take to the road for four straight conference matches, beginning with a date against UNCG Friday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
