Volleyball Returns Home for a Pair of SoCon Matches this Weekend

Georgia Southern returns home for a pair of Southern Conference matches in Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles will take on Chattanooga Friday at 6 p.m. and face Samford Saturday at 2 p.m. The Eagles have won 13 of their last 14 matches and are 7-1 in the SoCon, good for second in the league standings. Georgia Southern has won nine of its last 10 matches in Hanner Fieldhouse.
The Eagles are coming off a pair of victories on the road last weekend. Georgia Southern topped Appalachian State 3-2 and swept Western Carolina 3-0.
Chattanooga is 2-5 in the league with wins over Samford and Wofford. The Mocs are coming off a pair of losses last week as they fell 3-1 at Davidson and 3-2 to UNCG.
Samford is on a three-match win streak and coming off 3-0 victories at Elon and UNCG. The Bulldogs were picked to win the league in the Preseason Coaches Poll.

Friday's match is the annual Dig Pink Game to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. Dig Pink t-shirts are available for $12 from members of the Volleyball team, Zeta Tau Alpha, or stop by Hanner room 2317. Proceeds will benefit the Statesboro Bulloch County Breast Cancer Foundation.
Saturday's match is Junior Eagle Club Day and all Junior Eagle Club members get free admission with their membership card.

Georgia Southern – Alexandra Beecher leads the Eagles with 343 digs this season after setting the school record with 604 in her freshman campaign. She has posted 20-plus digs in 17 matches in her career, including four this season.
Chattanooga – Allie Davenport leads the Mocs in kills with 2.39 per set and leads the SoCon with 0.43 service aces per set.
Samford – Katie Murphy leads the SoCon in hitting percentage with a .403 mark, while Michaela Reesor leads the league in kills with 3.87 a set.
