WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Georgia Southern (4-3) defeated ETSU (0-6) 3-0 on Friday, winning 25-18, 28-26, 25-20. The Eagles trailed 21-24 in the second set before moving ahead 26-25 and finishing off the closest set of the match.

Reagan Barth led the Eagles with 19 kills and 20.0 points while hitting .359 and adding seven digs. Maddie Cugino collected 18 digs and added two assists. Lexi Duffy finished with 21 assists, five digs and a kill on her lone attack. Anna Powell added 10 kills and a service ace.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- ETSU moved ahead 3-1 after kills from Elizabeth Aylward and Sophia Davis, but the Eagles answered with kills from Gabby Babinski and Reagan Barth and a Barth block to move in front 5-3.
- The Eagles stayed in front through the middle of the set, getting kills from Beka Pfefferkorn, Alex Myers, Barth and Anna Powell as the lead reached 15-11.
- ETSU pulled within 15-13 on a Gianna Blair kill, but Kayla Knowles and Powell helped the Eagles push the margin back to 19-14.
- After ETSU cut it to 21-18, the Eagles scored the final four points, with Pfefferkorn and Barth putting down the last two kills to close the set 25-18.

Second Set
- Reagan Barth had three early kills as the Eagles moved ahead 5-2, but ETSU answered to tie the set at 5-5 and went in front 6-5 on a service ace.
- ETSU built a 17-12 lead and later held a 22-17 advantage before the Eagles cut the gap to 22-20 behind an Anna Powell kill, an ETSU ball-handling error and a block by Alex Myers and Gabby Babinski.
- After ETSU reached 24-21, the Eagles scored four straight points, tying the set on an ETSU bad set before Pfefferkorn's kill put the Eagles ahead 25-24.
- ETSU tied the set twice more, but Powell answered at 26-26 and Pfefferkorn followed with the final kill to give the Eagles the set, 28-26.

Third Set
- The Eagles built a 10-5 lead after Reagan Barth put down three early kills, Kayla Knowles added a kill and Alex Myers was credited with a block on an ETSU attack error.
- ETSU cut the margin to 17-13, but the Eagles responded with four straight points, including an Alex Myers kill and an Anna Powell ace, to move ahead 21-13.
- ETSU made a late four-point push to 22-18 behind two Sophia Davis aces, but the Eagles reached set point on a block by Pfefferkorn and Kayla Knowles before Pfefferkorn closed the 25-20 set with a kill.
