GEORGIA SOUTHERN-APPALACHIAN STATE SERIES
In its longest series against an opponent, Georgia Southern finds itself in its only deficit against current conference opponents as the Mountainers have a 15-12-1 all-time mark against the Eagles and a 12-10 advantage in games played in the modern era. The Eagles defeated the top-ranked and previously undefeated Mountaineers in a 21-14 overtime win at Paulson Stadium in November 2010. That Eagle victory ended ASU's 26-game conference win streak, a streak that started after Georgia Southern's last win in Boone, N.C. in October 2007. The Eagles' came out on top at Kidd Brewer Stadium 38-35 and halted Appalachian State's 30-game home win streak.

BACK IN THE DAY
South Georgia Teachers College and Appalachian State Teachers College met in Statesboro the Friday after Thanksgiving in 1932 with the "Blue Tide" taking a 33-0 win in their first contest, the earliest recorded game against a current opponent.

A LITTLE FAMILIAR
Georgia Southern wide receivers coach Chad Lunsford and Appalachian State secondary coach Scot Sloan have both spent time on the opponent's football staff.  Lunsford was the tight ends coach for the Mountaineers from 2001-2002 and Sloan was the defensive backs coach for the Eagles from 2002-05.

ALL TIED UP
In six games this year, linebackers Edwin Jackson and Kyle Oehlbeck are tied with 43 total tackles with each one as the leading tackler in two games and both tied for the lead in two.

NUMBERS GAME
The Eagles continue to lead the Southern Conference in a number of offensive statistical categories, including total offense (481.7 yards per game), passing efficiency (170.6) and rushing offense (369.7, also #1 in NCAA Division I), Georgia Southern tops the SoCon in scoring offense with 40.2 points per game with a league-best 32 touchdowns in six games.

STILL THE FAVORITE
Despite not being eligible for the Southern Conference championship and postseason play, Georgia Southern was voted as the league's favorite by both the SoCon coaches and media this summer.

NEARBY IN NORTH CAROLINA
Two other Eagle athletics teams are also competing in the state of North Carolina this weekend. Georgia Southern Men's Tennis is participating in the Elon Invitational Friday through Sunday and the Men's Soccer team travels to Greensboro for a 7:30 p.m. game vs. the Spartans Saturday.

BACK AT HOME AGAIN NEXT WEEK
After only one home game in the month of October, the Eagles are back at home for their next two games with the #TRUEBLUEOUT against Furman on Saturday, November 2nd at 1 p.m. Eagle Fans are encouraged to wear as much blue as possible in Paulson Stadium for this game. After the football game, the final scrimmage for the Georgia Southern Baseball team take place under the lights at J.I. Clements Stadium. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. with free food and refreshments as the full gameday experience will be in effect with PA, music, scoreboard, lineups, umpires, jerseys and rosters.
