Ellison Selected SoCon Freshman of the Week

Eagle quarterback guided the Eagles to victory with 273 yards of total offense
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern quarterback Kevin Ellison earned his second Southern Conference Freshman of the Week award for 2013 today with 273 yards of total offense and the game-winning touchdown in Saturday's win over The Citadel. Ellison, from Cornelia, Ga., ran for a career-best 135 yards and threw for 138 yards on 7-of-10 passing.
Tying his career-best with a 53-yard run in the third quarter, Ellison's rush placed the Eagles inside the Bulldog 25 and he directed Georgia Southern to a touchdown five plays later. He also threw a 45-yard pass to wide receiver B.J. Johnson to set up the Eagles' second score of the game.
Georgia Southern is off this week and returns to action at Appalachian State on Saturday, October 26th. Kickoff for the game in Boone, N.C., is at 3:30 p.m. and a limited number of tickets are available through the Athletics Ticket Office by calling by calling 1-800-GSU-WINS.
