STATESBORO, Ga. – "By the Numbers" spotlights each week some of the interesting statistics, rankings and milestones as they relate to the Georgia Southern Football program.

Tackles for loss by Kyle Oehlbeck, a career best for the senior linebacker from Gainesville, Fla. Oehlbeck led the Eagles with nine total tackles in Saturday's win and in addition to his two TFLs, his total included a tackle for no gain. The two TFLs tie a Georgia Southern individual season high with senior defensive lineman Blake Riley.

Twelve different Eagles have caught at least one pass this season wide receiver B.J. Johnson leading the list with nine catches on the year and Montay Crockett, Johnathan Bryant and Kentrellis Showers with four each. Georgia Southern is averaging 121.8 yards per contest in the passing game, nearly double its average from 2012.

Career-long catch by B.J. Johnson who hauled in a 45-yard pass from Kevin Ellison in that put Georgia Southern inside the Bulldog 20 for an eventual Eagle touchdown. Johnson caught three passes for a total of 73 yards. His previous long reception was 42 yards against the Red Flash last month.

Georgia Southern's game at Appalachian State will mark Coach Monken's 50th game as head coach of the Eagles. In his fourth season in Statesboro, Monken, a candidate for the 2013 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year award, is 35-14 for a 71.4 win percentage.

Sophomore punter Ryan Nowicki had a career-long 57-yard punt against The Citadel, which also ranks as the longest for the Eagles' this year. Nowicki posted two 56-yard punts earlier this year.

The Georgia Southern defense allowed the Bulldogs only 63 total rushing yards in the final three quarters of Saturday's win over The Citadel. The Eagles held the Bulldogs to a total offense output of 272 yards, The Citadel's second lowest total of the 2013 season.

Completion percentage for redshirt freshman quarterback Kevin Ellison in the last two games, connecting on 14 of his 17 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns. Ellison's season passing efficiency is 179.57, which would rank third in the FCS and sixth in the FBS.

Number of scouts who watched Georgia Southern's win against The Citadel and then participated in the first-ever #TrueBlue campout at Eagle Field following the game. In conjuction with the Coastal Empire Council of the Boy Scouts of America's Fall Camporee, the scouts set up tents, enjoyed dinner and then watched a movie on a big screen before settling in for the night.

Total all-purpose yards for senior Jerick McKinnon who ran for a 2013 Southern Conference game-best 198 yards against The Citadel and had a 10-yard pass reception in the victory as well. The Walter Payton Award candidate has five games with 100 or more yards rushing, including the last four straight with totals of 114, 172, 181 and Saturday's 198.

Number of days Bobby Adams, a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and single parent of three, has been away from U.S. soil and his family. Adams returned from his second tour in Korea and surprised Michelle, a student at Georgia Southern, Gary, a college student at Coastal Georgia, and Gabrielle, in elementary school, on the field when the children thought they were filming a welcome home video for his return.
