Statesboro, Ga.- Georgia Southern men's golf coach Larry Mays has announced the roster additions of Christian Humber and Chris Sells for the upcoming 2012-2013 season.

Humber is a native of Fayetteville, Ga. where he was a 2010 graduate of Veritas Classical. Humber will be a Junior College transfer from Central Alabama Community College (CACC). Christian will follow in the footsteps of current GSU Senior and team captain Lewis Gruber, who also transferred from Central Alabama.

Humber will join the Georgia Southern Program with an accomplished resume in the Junior College ranks, where he was a 2011 PING All-American as well as 2011 & 2012 PING All-Region golfer. He was also included on the 2011 NJCAA Division I All-Freshman Team. He currently has three victories in his short tenure at Central Alabama, with wins at; MGCCC Fall Invitational, Outback Invitational, and the CACC Invitational. Humber has helped lead the CACC program to two NJCAA Division I National Championship appearances in the past two seasons. They will compete in the 2012 NJCAA Division I National Championship May 15-18 in Newton, Kansas.

Humber has also helped CACC accomplish the 2011 GCAA Team Academic Award and the 2011 NJCAA Team Academic Award by being named to the Dean's List in the same year.

"We are excited to add a layer with Christian's experience to our squad," said Head Coach Larry Mays. "He has proven he can win in college, and this will be valuable to our team next year. We expect Christian to be able to come in and add depth to our program and we look for him to put in some good rounds for us next year."

Chris Sells, from Savannah, Ga., is currently a senior at Benedictine Academy. Chris will also join the Georgia Southern Program with an accomplished resume on the golf course and in the classroom. During the 2011 season Chris won the 2011 Johnny Paulk Invitational, the Savannah City Individual Title, Region Championship as well as the Matt Warren Championship, which he won with scores of 64-72. Chris recently finished T4th at the AAAAA State Championship, shooting 72 at Champions Retreat Golf Club.

Sells is also proficient in the classroom, where he is currently the Valedictorian of his class at Benedictine, while carrying a 4.0 for four years. He was the recipient of the 2010-2011 Coca-Cola academic scholarship, which recognizes the number one student in his junior class.

Chris is a member of the drama club, National Honors Society and Mindbenders club. He volunteers for the First Tee of Savannah, as well as Relay for Life. He is a member of JROTC, where he is a Cadet Lieutenant Colonel.

"Chris is a great young man with a lot of upside. He has excelled both on the course and in the classroom while in high school," said Mays. "We look for him to continue his success as a member of the Georgia Southern Eagles Golf Team. He is a feisty competitor that will bring in a strong work ethic to push his teammates."
