Golf Returns to Action at Gary Koch Invitational

Statesboro, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Golf team will play in the Gary Koch Invitational Saturday and Sunday, April 7-8. The Gary Koch Invitational is hosted by Auburn and Kentucky, and held at the Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, Florida. The three round tournament tees off at 7:35 a.m. Saturday morning, with the second round following in continuous play. The third round will take place Sunday morning.
The 2011 winner of the Gary Koch, Virginia, is not in this year's field, so a new champion will be crowned. The Eagles will face top notch competition this weekend. The 15 team tournament includes seven teams ranked in the Top-25 (Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings). GSU will be facing: (2) Alabama, (3) Auburn, College of Charleston, (23) Florida, (24) Florida State, (10) Georgia Tech, (15) North Florida, Pacific, South Florida, Toledo, UNCG, (22) Virginia, and Wake Forest.
The Eagles will send out freshman Scott Wolfes (St. Simons Island, Ga.), sophomores Hayden Anderson (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Will Evans (McDonough, Ga.), junior Blake Olson (Pensacola, Fla.) and senior Lewis Gruber (Tallahassee, Fla.).
Playing individually for Georgia Southern will be freshman Zach Hartman (St. Simons Island, Ga.).
This is the Eagles' first tournament since hosting the Schenkel Invitational March 16-18. The Gary Koch is also Georgia Southern's last tournament before the SoCon Conference Tournament April 15-17.
