Eagles Wrap Up John Hayt Invitational

Ponte Vedra, Fla. - The Georgia Southern Golf team finished 13th Tuesday afternoon in the John Hayt Invitational, hosted by North Florida. The Eagles shot a 299 on Tuesday to put them at 907 for the tournament, plus 43. After #19 UCF lead the field after the first two days, #9 Arkansas overtook the Golden Knights to win the event, and defend its crown. Arkansas shot a 281 in the final day, bringing them to 872 and plus eight for the tournament, to win their second John Hayt Invitational for the second year in a row.
Scott Wolfes (St. Simons Island, Ga.) tied for 15th, leading the way for the Eagles. Wolfes shot 220, which put him at plus four for the tournament. Hayden Anderson (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Drew Guffey (Bartow, Fla.) both tied for 55th, ending at 229 and plus 13. Blake Olson (Pensacola, Fla.) tied for 67th and Zach Hartman (St. Simons Island, Ga.) tied for 72nd to finish the scoring for GSU. Olson shot 232 and plus 16, while Hartman shot 235 and plus 19.
Matthew Mierzejewski (Alpharetta, Ga.), playing individually, placed 66th for the tournament. Mierzejewski shot a 76 in a final round, bringing him to 231, and plus 15 for the event.
Georgia Southern will be back in action March 5-6, when they head to Aiken, S.C. to play in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.
