Golf Finishes First Day of John Hayt Invitational

Ponte Vedra, Fla. - After the first day of the John Hayt Invite, the Georgia Southern Golf team is sitting in 15th place. After day one, UCF leads the field with 294 strokes, shooting six over 74. The Eagles shot 316 for the first round, 28 over 74.
Leading the way for Georgia Southern is Scott Wolfes (St. Simons Island, Ga.). Wolfes is tied for 24th, shooting a 75 and three over par. Following Wolfes is Drew Guffey (Bartow, Fla.) who is tied for 54th shooting a 79 (plus seven). Zach Hartman (St. Simons Island, Ga.) , Hayden Anderson (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Blake Olson (Pensacola, Fla.) round out the scoring for the Eagles, shooting plus eight, plus ten and plus eleven, respectively.
Playing individually, Matthew Mierzejewski (Alpharetta, Ga.) is tied for 30th. Mierzejewski shot a 75 for the day, and is sitting at three over.
Day two of play is set to begin Monday morning at 8 a.m. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
