Golf Team Finishes First Day in Gainesville

Gainesville, Fla. – With the first day of the Gator Invite in the books, the Eagles are sitting in tenth place after 36 holes of golf. After one day, Auburn leads the field, shooting even for the day. GSU shot a 590, putting them at plus 30 for the day.
Leading the way for Georgia Southern is Zach Hartman (St. Simons Island, Ga.). Hartman is tied for 17th, after shooting 144 after two rounds, sitting at plus four. Following Hartman is Scott Wolfes (St. Simons Island, Ga.) who is tied for twenty-third, at plus six. Matt Mierzejewski (Alpharetta, Ga.), Blake Olson (Pensacola, Fla.) and Lewis Gruber (Tallahassee, Fla.) round out the rest of the scores for the Eagles at plus 8, plus twelve and plus 13, respectively.
Playing individually, Hayden Anderson (Knoxville, Tenn.) is tied for 47th after shooting 150, sitting at plus ten.
Play is scheduled to resume Sunday morning at 10 a.m. with 18 more holes. Day two will begin with a shotgun start due to likely frost.
