Eagles Cap Fall Season in Hawaii

STATESBORO, Ga. – The same five golfers who won the last two tournaments Georgia Southern has competed in will travel to Kauai, Hawaii, for the Warrior Wave Invitational Nov. 5-7.
The three-round tournament will be played at the Makai Golf Club at the St. Regis Princeville Resort. It features a stacked field with seven teams in the top-100 in the country, according to Golfweek's College Rankings, including the 48th-ranked Eagles.
The tournament field also contains Baylor (49), Cal State Fullerton, East Tennessee State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Indiana (39), North Carolina State (93), Pepperdine, San Diego State (35), UAB, UC Irvine (100), San Diego (46), UC Santa Barbara and Xavier.
Scott Wolfes, ranked 19th in the country by Golfweek, will tee it up with Charlie Martin, Hayden Anderson, Will Evans (right) and Matt Mierzejewski for the Eagles.
The quintet is coming off back-to-back tournament victories at the AutoTrader Collegiate Classic and the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Intercollegiate. It's the first time the Eagles have done that since 1982.
"We are looking to finish off a good fall with another strong finish," said Georgia Southern coach Larry Mays. "This is a treat for the team to play out in Hawaii, and they are excited for the trip. We hope to have some fun and bring home another top finish."
Wolfes has won two tournaments this season and finished eighth in a third and his coming off a 9-under performance at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate, his best as an Eagle. The sophomore won the tournament in a one-hole playoff and leads the team with a 70.92 scoring average.
Martin is coming off a fourth-place finish in his last tournament and has three top-11 outings this fall. The sophomore is averaging 73.33 strokes a round.
Anderson has posted consecutive top-10 finishes in his last two tournaments and is averaging 73.73 strokes a round, while Evans has posted back-to-back top-30 outings, including a 10th-place finish at the AutoTrader. His round of 68 in the last day at the ODU/OBX put him in a tie for 27th, and the junior has a 76.11 scoring average. Mierzejewski has a 76.33 scoring average and shot a pair of 73s at the AutoTrader.
