Franklin, Tenn. - The Georgia Southern Golf team posted an even par 284 on Friday to lead Oklahoma (+1) and Middle Tennessee State (+1) by one stroke after one round of play at the Mason Rudolph Championships. Freshman Scott Wolfes (St. Simons Island, Ga.) is tied for first after firing a 2-under 69 and is followed closely by Charlie Martin (LaGrange, Ga.) and Lewis Gruber (Tallahassee, Fla.) who both carded one-under par 70s.
"All of the stuff we focused on during our practice sessions really paid off today," said Head Coach Larry Mays. "We talked about having patience and letting the game come to us. Now we just have to go out there and back it up the next two days."
The Mason Rudolph Championships is hosted by Vanderbilt University on the par-71, 7,100 yard South Course at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Several premier programs make up this year's field including teams from the SEC and the Southern Conference.
