Volleyball Bounces Back with Three-Set Victory

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Volleyball team (14-12, 6-4) bounced back from Saturday's loss to Samford with a three-set victory over Chattanooga (5-20, 3-7) on Sunday afternoon at Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles hit .316 en route to a 25-13, 25-13, 25-18 win.
Nicole Jeschelnik (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) led the offense with 10 kills and tallied a .400 hitting percentage. GSU hit .324 in the first set and followed that up with a .414 mark in the second set. Jeschelnik also notched 10 digs on the defensive end.
The Eagles held the Mocs to a .033 hitting percentage and did not allow a set above .100. The defense held Chattanooga to a .067 percentage in the first set and a -.029 percentage in the third set. Moriah Bellissimo (Blackstone, Va.) led the team with 14 digs to go along with Jeschelnik's 10 digs.
Georgia Southern came out of the gate firing and took a 10-4 lead in the first set. Chattanooga bounced back cutting the Eagles lead to four points, 14-10. The Eagles reeled off four points to the Mocs one to separate with an 18-11 advantage.
After the 25-13 first set victory Georgia Southern pulled off a similar 25-13 victory in the second set. The third set was a closely contested one. The Eagles led 10-8 in the middle of the set and managed to open a four point lead, 20-16, after a kill by Jeschelnik. The Mocs cut the advantage to three points, 21-18, on a kill by Jennifer Kuroski before GSU reeled off four-straight points to win 25-18.
