CHARLESTON, S.C. - Georgia Southern Women's Soccer won its third consecutive match with a 2-0 victory over The Citadel on Thursday afternoon (October 13th). Courtney Collins (Mason, Ohio) scored both goals for the Eagles in the victory. Her 13th minute strike gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead early in the match. An inlet pass by Sara Oland (Evans, Ga.) helped Collins split two Bulldog defenders and beat the goalkeeper.
The duo combined again just five minutes later for the seventh goal of the season for Collins. Oland's pass up through the Citadel defense brought Collins in prime position to tally her second goal of the match with 72 minutes remaining.
Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Merson continued her run of stellar play with yet another shutout in goal for the Eagles. The Albuquerque, N.M. native recorded her fourth shutout of the season. She made six saves in the match as The Citadel took 18 shots on the afternoon.
