Bellissimo Honored as SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – As announced today by the league office, Moriah Bellissimo has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for September 29. The sophomore helped lead the Georgia Southern Volleyball team to a 2-0 start in league play, defeating Wofford and Furman over the weekend.
The Blackstone, Va., native collected 27 kills in 10 sets for a 2.70 kills per set average in the two matches. The middle hitter posted 14 kills against Wofford and 13 against Furman, while also registering 20 digs against the Terriers and 13 against the Paladins. Her 14 kills at Wofford marked a season-high and with double-doubles in both matches, the sophomore now has five on the season. In addition, Bellissimo had six blocks in the two matches.
Bellissimo carries a 4.0 grade point average in nutrition/food science.
Georgia Southern returns to the court and conference play welcoming Chattanooga to Hanner Fieldhouse on Saturday, October 2. Match time is slated for 6 p.m.
