Zabroske Named Division I PING All-Region

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the 2010 Division I PING All-Region honorees Wednesday afternoon (June 2) with Georgia Southern senior Ryan Zabroske named to the East region team. Zabroske was one of three representatives on the list from the Southern Conference.

In all, 153 players across six regions – Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West – earned all-region honors for the 2010 season.

Zabroske, an Alpharetta, Ga., native is one of only two Eagles to have competed in all 12 tournaments for Georgia Southern this season. The senior was named to the All-Conference team at the conclusion of the SoCon Championship and was recognized as the SoCon Golfer of the Week for all competition March 31-April 6.

With four top-five finishes and an extra top-10 placement, Zabroske broke his career-low 54 hole total and career-low round within the first three tournaments of the season. In the season-opening Golfweek Conference Challenge, Zabroske collected his first top-five finish with a career-low 214 (-2) three-round total. He topped his performance three weeks later placing second at the Adams Cup of Newport Collegiate with a 7-under 209, compliments of three rounds of 70-70-69.

He carded a career-low 67 at the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate and tied the mark at the Augusta State Invitational in the spring campaign. At the Mizuno Savannah, the senior tied for second posting a 5-under 211 and then tied for sixth at the Augusta State Invitational with a 9-under 207.

With a 2-under 214 at the Southern Conference Championship, Zabroske tied for fifth place and earned the 16th All-Conference honor under the direction of head coach Larry Mays

Zabroske is currently competing with Georgia Southern at the 2010 NCAA Men's Golf Championship in Chattanooga, Tenn. He entered the tournament leading the team with a 72.56 stroke average. Round two action is taking place Wednesday, June 2 with the third and final round of stroke play commencing on Thursday, June 3.
