Women's Soccer Announces 2010 Slate

STATESBORO, Ga. – Of 19 total regular-season contests, the Georgia Southern women’s soccer team will play 10 at Eagle Field during the 2010 season as announced by head coach Ashley Hart. The Eagles will open the Southern Conference slate on September 24 and play 11 straight to close out the season.
“We are excited about our 2010 schedule and our home slate this season,” said head coach Hart. “We will continue our rivalry with both Georgia State and Mercer and we are looking forward to facing Kennesaw State again as well. We have scheduled some quality teams in our non-conference portion that will prepare us for another tough year in the Southern Conference.”
The regular-season officially kicks off for Georgia Southern on August 20 against Winthrop in a 4 p.m. game in Statesboro. The Eagles then play a pair on the road visiting Mercer (Aug. 22) and USC Upstate (Aug. 28) before welcoming Georgia State to Eagle Field on Sept. 3 at 4 p.m.
The Charleston Southern Buccaneers make a stop in Statesboro on Sept. 5 before the Eagles travel to Birmingham, Ala. for the Bulldog Classic where they will face Tennessee Tech and Kennesaw State. A Coastal Carolina matchup closes out the non-conference portion of the schedule at home on Sept. 19.
Wofford welcomes in the SoCon slate on Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. in Statesboro in the first of 11 straight league matches. Furman follows Wofford with a visit to Eagle Field on Sept. 26 before GS commences a four-game road swing to North Carolina. The trip opens with UNC Greensboro (October 1) and Elon (Oct. 3), before rounding out with Western Carolina (Oct. 8) and Appalachian State (Oct. 10).
A brief stop at home to play host to The Citadel on Oct. 15 precedes a trip to College of Charleston on Oct. 17 for the last road game of the regular season. The Eagles close out regular-season action with three straight contests at home beginning with Chattanooga (Oct. 22), then Samford (Oct. 24) and finally Davidson at 4 p.m. on Senior Day (Oct. 28).
The Southern Conference Tournament will take place from Oct. 31 – November 7.
