Gildersleeve Named SoCon Volleyball Defensive Player of the Month

STATESBORO, Ga. – Senior middle hitter Sarah Gildersleeve (Naples, Fla.) was named Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Month as announced Wednesday by the league office.
Gildersleeve helped the Eagles to the 2010 Southern Conference Tournament title and the team's first NCAA postseason appearance since 2003.
In the first round of the SoCon Tournament, the senior recorded a career-high nine block assists against the host Appalachian State. In the semifinals against Elon, Gildersleeve recorded six more block assists. When the Eagles completed a 3-0 sweep of College of Charleston in the championship match, she tallied four more block assists.
The 6-foot senior led the Eagles with 25 total blocks in November, as the squad posted a 7-1 record for the month.
Gildersleeve was named to the All-Tournament team in the SoCon Volleyball Championship.
