STATESBORO, Ga. – Locos Grill & Pub and Eagle Volleyball have partnered to host an NCAA Selection Show party Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m.
The Selection Show, which will air from 3-3:30 p.m. on ESPNews, will announce where the Georgia Southern volleyball team, who defeated College of Charleston 3-0 in the championship match of the 2010 SoCon Tournament and earned an automatic bid for the postseason, will head for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
"We're very happy to have the opportunity to play host to the 2010 Southern Conference Champion Georgia Southern Eagle volleyball team,” said Jim Lanier, owner of the Statesboro Locos franchise. “We at Locos like to recognize that success of all Georgia Southern athletic programs. What these girls and Coach Callihan have accomplished should be noted and celebrated.”
The GSU volleyball team, along with coaches, players, administration, family and friends will be present for the event, and the party is open to the public.
“We're more than happy to invite the team, their family and friends and Eagle fans from all over to join us Sunday and watch the Selection Show as Georgia Southern will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament after an outstanding season, capped off with an exciting win at the SoCon tournament this past weekend," Lanier added.
"We are excited to represent the Southern Conference and Eagle nation in this year's NCAA tournament,” noted Eagle head coach Chad Callihan. “This has been an incredible journey and we have enjoyed sharing this season with all of our fans and supporters. Our fans have been a vital part of our program and I appreciate Locos giving us the opportunity to share this exciting day with a community that has been so important to our growth."
