STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern women's soccer team (0-5) heads to Atlanta to face Georgia State (4-0) Sunday at 1 p.m. The Eagles' six game road swing to open the season wraps up with the match against the Panthers.
Georgia Southern rallied from a 1-0 goal deficit to force overtime against Jacksonville last Sunday but were unable to win their first match of the season. Chelsea Kephart (Cumming, Ga.) scored a late second half goal in the 82nd minute that forced overtime.
Kephart and Jenny Anderson (Birmingham, Ala.) were named to the JU Invitational All-Tournament Team for their performances in last weekend's matches. Anderson started both matches and scored the Eagles' lone goal against North Florida.
Georgia State is off to an undefeated start this season and blanked Southern Illinois-Edwardsville their last time out. Freshman Sarah Bennett scored the Panthers' two goals. The Panthers will face #15 Georgia Friday before returning home for their opener Sunday.
The Eagles' match against the Panthers is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday at Panthersville Athletics Complex.
