STATESBORO, GA – More than 40 people took part in Georgia Southern's inaugural volleyball clinic Saturday (August 22) in Hanner Fieldhouse. The entire volleyball team and coaching staff were on hand to lead introductory skills and lessons of the game.
All campers enjoyed different volleyball drills, learning about the game and improving their skills. The Volleyball Eagles focused on teaching the participants serving, passing, setting, attacking and defensive keys to the game.
Following the conclusion of the clinic, the Eagles signed autographs for the campers before hitting the floor for the Blue/White scrimmage.
“I thought for the first clinic, it was a great success. It was nice to get some of the young kids out and have the team teach them the basic skills of the game,” said head coach Chad Callihan. “The team enjoyed having the opportunity to interact with people in the community. Hopefully the day was a positive for those who attended and hopefully we will see some of them at the matches during the season.”
The season gets underway with the Holiday Inn Invitational beginning Friday, August 28. The Eagles open their home schedule at 7 p.m. versus Stetson.
