Women's Soccer Yields to UNC Greensboro

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern women's soccer team (0-11-0, 0-4-0) yielded to UNC Greensboro (7-5-0, 2-1-0) 3-0 Sunday.
Danae Kaimuloa (Escondido, Calif.) led the Eagles' offense with three shots.
The Spartans opened the match with a quick goal. Kelly Attayek scored on a breakaway from Cat Barnekow at the 00:26 mark. The Georgia Southern defense stepped up after the goal and held UNC Greensboro scoreless for the rest of the first half.
The Eagles took three corner kicks in the first half. Kaimuloa took the first one in the 2nd minute.
Tabitha Padgett put a shot on target for the Spartans in the 3rd minute, but Lauren Santos (Berwyn, Ill.) stepped up and made her first of seven saves.
Sara Oland (Evans, Ga.) took a shot in the 6th minute that led to a second corner kick. Kaimuloa crossed the ball into the box, and Michelle Carlson (Melbourne, Fla.) just missed the target on a nice headerin the 7th minute.
The Eagles got their third corner in the 23rd minute. Kaimuloa took the corner, passing the ball to Oland who set up Kaimuloa with a shot that missed to the left of the net.
UNC Greensboro went on the attack in the 30th minute, but the Georgia Southern defense stepped up to keep them off the scoreboard. Santos made a save on a shot by Nicole Danford in the 30th minute. Oland and Jennifer Godfrey (Melbourne, Fla.) blocked two shots by Jenn Partenheimer in the 37th minute.
The Spartans went on the offensive in the beginning of the second half. Santos made three saves before Kristin Player scored her fifth goal of the season off a rebounded shot.
Jenny Anderson (Birmingham, Ala.) took a shot in the 76th minute that missed wide of the net.
Santos made a fourth save in the second half in the 77th minute on a shot from Jaimey Etten.
Holly Dyer (Auburn, Ga.) launched a header that missed high of the net in the 78th minute.
Kaimuloa took shots in the 83rd and 89th minutes - both missed high of the net.
Tabitha Padgett took three shots in three minutes and scored her fifth goal of the season on a breakaway.
The Eagles return to action Thursday against the Citadel.
