Volleyball Dig Pink Match Set for Tuesday
10/12/2009 5:27:00 PM | Volleyball
When the Georgia Southern volleyball team takes the court on Tuesday, October 13, against Southern Conference foe Davidson, the Eagles will also be participating in the Dig Pink Campaign, a movement to raise awareness and money for the prevention of breast cancer.
Over 550 colleges and high schools around the country, including all Southern Conference schools, will participate in the rally with proceeds benefitting the Side-Out Foundation, a national 501 (c)(3) foundation located.
Fans can help support the 2009 Dig Pink Campaign by making a one-time donation throughout the match on October 13th.
All fans in attendance to the match against Davidson are asked to sport pink in the stands to honor breast cancer patients and survivors.
The Eagles take the court against the Wildcats at 6 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse. Season tickets for the 2009 Georgia Southern volleyball season are on sale at $15 for a general admission pass. A family plan, which includes two adult passes and two children passes, can be purchased for only $35. Single-game tickets are priced at $5 for an adult and $1 for youth (ages 3-12).
For more information regarding tickets, please call the Georgia Southern Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-GSU-WINS or visit the official website of the Georgia Southern Eagles at www.GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com.

Side-Out Foundation
The Side-Out Foundation has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Breast Cancer research nationally through volleyball tournaments, clinics, and rallies. Funds are currently devoted to targeted therapies and molecular profiling; a hot bed of research activity. Side-Out also devotes a portion of the funds to local and national “Life with Cancer” support organizations.
Their name underscores the purpose of the organization – “Side-Out” in volleyball occurs when one team wins a point while its opponent is serving, thereby regaining serve or control of play. Likewise in the war against breast cancer, the Side-Out Foundation will support health care professionals in their pursuit of practical solutions for women and men with this dreaded disease thus enabling those affected to regain control of their lives and living them to the fullest.
