Golf Ties for Seventh at Shoal Creek

Led by Jordan Johnstun's (Evans/LaGrange) final round 1-under 71, the Eagles shot 294 to finish in a tie with LSU for seventh place in the 12-team field (896 overall).
Baylor led from the start, shooting an 880. Mississippi was two strokes back, followed by host UAB at 890, Tulsa (892), East Tennessee State (893) and Auburn (895) rounding out the top six. The Eagles and LSU finished one stroke behind. Texas Tech (898), North Florida (900),

“We got off to a dreadful start, that first round killed us. I challenged our team last night not to make any double bogeys and we made only one all day,” said head coach Larry Mays. “We went out and redeemed ourselves, playing well on a really good golf course. I thought our team showed a lot of heart to bounce back like that. I think at the end of the season you could see 10, 11 or maybe all 12 teams in the postseason.”
