Eagle Golf to Compete at Hackler Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern golf team heads to Myrtle Beach to compete at the General Jim Hackler Invitational, Sunday through Monday, Mar. 9-10, at the par-72, 6,950-yard TPC of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, S.C.
Coastal Carolina University will play host to the 15-team field, which includes the following teams (Golfstat ranking): Florida State (11), Duke (12), Wake Forest (18), North Carolina (19), East Tennessee State (22), Louisville (30), Pepperdine (31), Lamar (35), Coastal Carolina (42), North Florida (46), Augusta State (47), Northwestern (57), Georgia Southern (88), Tulsa (96), UNC Wilmington (120).
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will begin Sunday (Mar. 9) with an 8 a.m., first-round shotgun start, and will continue play into the second round. The final 18 will be played Monday (Mar. 10) starting at 8 a.m.
Representing Georgia Southern is senior Chris Smith (Alpharetta, Ga.) and juniors Jordan Johnstun (Evans, Ga.), Ryan LeFevre (Boca Raton, Fla.), Drew Lethem (Camdenton, Mo.) and Ryan Zabroske (Alpharetta, Ga.).
In last year's tournament, the Eagles finished in 10th place shooting a 20-over 884, being led by then-senior Bryan Jones shooting a 1-over 217 to tie for 23rd place. Following Jones were Johnstun tying for 51st place (+8), LeFevre tying for 58th place (+9), Lethem tying for 64th place (+11), and Smith tying for 72nd place (+12).
Georgia Southern jumped up six places in the final round and finished better than Virginia, North Florida, Purdue, Pepperdine, Kent State, Oklahoma, Baylor and UNC Wilmington.
Lamar is seeking to defend last year's team title shooting a 26-under 838.
