
1993 Eagles to be Recognized during Homecoming Game

STATESBORO, Ga. ? During Saturday's (Nov. 8) football game, Georgia Southern University will recognize the 15th Anniversary of the first of the Eagles' eight Southern Conference Championships.
The 1993 Eagles finished the month of September at 3-2 after a loss to the Hurricanes of Miami. They proceeded to win their last six regular season games by an average of 20 points, finishing with a SoCon record of 7-1. The 1993 Eagles beat Easter Kentucky at “Our House” 14-12 before falling to eventual national champion Youngstown State in the quarterfinals. The Eagles finished the season with a 10-3 overall record.
The Eagles boasted the number six defense in the country in scoring defense. Linebacker Nick Davis, defensive end Alex Mash and center Franklin Stephens were name All-America. Miguel Ayoub, Darius Dawson, Dexter Dawson, Reed Haley, Mash, Stephens and James Williams were named were named All-Conference; Mash was named SoCon ?Defensive Player of the Year' and Tim Stowers was named ?Coach of the Year'.
The presentation on-field presentation and video tribute will take place between the first and second quarters of the Eagles game versus Samford.
