Eagle Golf Concludes Competition at Arizona Intercollegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. ? The Georgia Southern golf team finished up competition at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate, Tuesday evening, at the par-71, 6,793-yard Arizona National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
After Monday's first round and partial second round (suspended due to darkness), the Eagles picked up where they left off and finished up the third and final round tied for 14th place, carding a total 35-over 887. The Eagles finished 39 strokes better than Long Beach State. Taking the team title was No. 12 Tennessee, carding a 20-under 832, three strokes ahead of No. 40 UNLV.
Pacing the Eagles was junior Drew Lethem (Camdenton, Mo.) who shot a final round 2-under 69 and finished the tournament in 18th place, carding a total even-par 213. Lethem's 4-under 67 first round was one stroke shy of tying his career low round.
UCLA's Kevin Chappell took home the individual medal, shooting a 15-under 198 and finishing seven strokes better than the next individuals.
Sophomore Spencer Fulford (Rocky Mount, N.C.) finished the tournament 10-over 223, tied for 49th place. Junior Ryan Zabroske (Alpharetta, Ga.) followed tied for 53rd place shooting an 11-over 224.
Freshman Logan Blondell (Lakeland, Fla.) finished the tournament tied for 69th place, carding a 14-over 227, while teammate Jordan Johnstun (Evans, Ga.) carded a 27-over 240, finishing in 82nd place.
The Eagles will return to the links to compete at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., Saturday, Feb. 9 through Sunday, Feb. 10.
