WILMINGTON, N.C. ? The Georgia Southern golf team maintains a favorable spot in the top four after playing 36 holes at the Landfall Tradition's par-72, 7,130-yard Country Club of Landfall, Saturday (Oct. 27).
Behind current leader Tulsa, the Eagles improved their first-round score by one stroke upon completion of today's second round, carding a 3-over 291. But No. 48 Ohio State and No. 25 Virginia Tech moved up into the second and third spots in the day's standings, shooting a 2-under 286 and 6-under 282, respectively.
Junior Drew Lethem (Camdenton, Mo.) preserved his first-day's standing tied for second place and goes into Sunday's final round with a 36-hole score of 5-under 139. He shot a season- and career-low 4-under 68 on the day and is just four strokes behind Tulsa leader Nicolas Geyger who also shot a 68 on the day and currently tallies a two-day total 9-under 135.
Junior Ryan LeFevre (Boca Raton, Fla.) is tied for 12th place, improving upon Friday's round by one stroke (even-par 72) and goes into the final round with a 1-over 145.
Tied for 18th place is freshman Logan Blondell (Lakeland, Fla.) following LeFevre by two stokes with a 3-over 147 after shooting a 2-over 74 on the day.
Sophomore Spencer Fulford (Rocky Mount, N.C.), sits tied for 37th place after carding a 5-over 77 on the day and a 36-hole score of 8-over 152. Junior teammate Ryan Zabroske (Alpharetta, Ga.) bettered his score on Friday by two strokes, carding a 5-over 77 on the day. He sits tied for 45th place going into Sunday's final round with a score of 12-over 156.
Georgia Southern will play its final round, Sunday, with tee times beginning at 9:02 a.m.
