Women's Soccer to Host Wofford, Thursday

STATESBORO, Ga. ?Georgia Southern women’s soccer returns home to Eagle Field, Thursday (Oct. 25) as the Eagles play their final home game of the season versus Wofford. The Southern Conference match is slated for 4 p.m.
GeorgiaSouthern enters Thursday’s match with a 2-11-2 overall record and a 1-5-2 conference slate. The Eagles last played atBoone,N.C.which ended in a narrow 2-1 loss to Appalachian State (Oct. 22). Wofford (6-8-2, 2-4-1) comes to Statesboro having recently defeated Elon (Oct. 21) 2-1, breaking a four-game winless streak.
In this, the 14th meeting between the two schools, Wofford holds a 7-5-1 advantage over the Eagles, having last defeatedGeorgiaSouthern in 2006 at Wofford’s Snyder Field inSpartanburg,S.C. GeorgiaSouthern defeated the Terriers in 2005 on Eagle Field by a 2-1 decision.
Fourth-year head coach Ashley Hart’s Eagles are led on offense by junior forward Ashley Toussaint (Warner Robins, Ga.) with nine points on four goals and one helper. She ranks fourth in the Southern Conference in shots (40) and third in shots per game (2.86). Freshman Jenny Anderson (Birmingham, Ala.), having recently notched two goals in the Eagles’ last two games versus App. State (Oct. 22) and Western Carolina (Oct. 19), ranks second on the team with six points on three goals. Sophomore keeper Lauren Santos (Berwyn,Ill.) ranks fifth in the league with 5.08 saves per game, tallying 66 saves in 13 games played.
Coached by Amy Kiah, Wofford is led on offense by Whitney Steelman with 12 points on five goals and two assists. She is followed by Monica Ploetzke with nine points and Natalie Ferrara with eight.
