Alessandro Santangelo begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Georgia Southern men’s tennis team in 2026-27.
Santangelo joins the Eagles from his alma mater of Ferris State University, where he served as an assistant coach for the Bulldog men’s and women’s tennis teams this past season. He was named the ITA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year for the men’s tennis team, helping lead the squad to the GLIAC regular season and tournament championships as well as a berth in the NCAA Division II Sweet 16. Ferris State’s women also advanced to the NCAA Championships last season.
A four-year standout on the Ferris State men’s tennis team, Santangelo was a three-time All-GLIAC singles selection for the Bulldogs from 2021-25, compiling an overall singles record of 72-33 and an overall doubles record of 57-31. He was the GLIAC Sportsmanship Award winner as a senior in 2025 and graduated from Ferris State with his bachelor’s degree in professional tennis management that year.
A three-year member of the Ferris State Student-Athelte Advisory Committee, Santangelo is also an RSPA Certified Professional Instructor. The native of Georgetown, Ontario, will be purshing his master’s degree in professional communication and leadership from Georgia Southern.
