Assistant strength and conditioning coach Tyler Johnson is responsible for overseeing and directing year-round training programs with Georgia Southern University’s women’s basketball, volleyball, softball and men’s tennis programs.
In July 2017, Johnson began as a graduate assistant at Southern, where he was directly responsible for the training programs of women’s basketball, track and field and swimming and diving.
Prior to his time in Statesboro, Johnson served as an intern strength and conditioning coaching assistant at Duke University, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Minnesota and North Dakota State University, where he assisted in the implementation of training programs for Olympic sports.
A native of Jamestown, North Dakota, he attended North Dakota State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in exercise science in the Spring of 2017. In the Summer of 2018, Johnson received his Master of Science degree in kinesiology, coaching from Georgia Southern University.
Johnson is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also CPR/AED certified through the American Red Cross.
