Before Georgia Southern: Began her collegiate career at Jacksonville University, but did not see any game action • Attended Walton High School in Marietta, Ga • Three-year starter for coach Suzanne Fitzgerald • Team captain of 33-6 team in her senior season • GVCA Senior All-Star and all-state in 2014 • All-area in 2013 and 2014 • Had 249 digs and 96 service aces in 247 sets in her prep career • Helped team to four consecutive state championships for 7A Area 4 • Played for A5 club team and coaches Bob Westbrook and Jing Hou.

Personal: Born Ashley Danielle Dean in Atlanta, Ga. • The daughter of Ruth Washington and Kenneth Dean • Has four siblings – Kelsi, Jarrett, Antonio and Nathaniel • Kelsi played volleyball at Belmont from 2011-15, and Antonio is an assistant men’s basketball coach at Rhode Island • Father played basketball at Clark-Atlanta.

Major: Plans to major in kinesiology.
