Lauren Kadet

Lauren Kadet joined the Eagles for the 2014 campaign as the team’s graduate assistant. A 2014 graduate of University of Maryland Baltimore County, Kadet is a native of Oakville, Ontario.

Kadet was twice named All-America East Conference in her four year career at UMBC. She was a three-year captain for the Retrievers and set the school record for career saves (396). Additionally she had 10 saves to rank fifth in the school record book and was a member of the 2013 America East Conference All-Tournament Team.

Kadet helped to guide the Retrievers to an historic 2013 campaign, that saw UMBC capture a share of its first regular-season America East title, its first America East Tournament title and its first trip to the NCAA Tournament. Kadet posted a career-best 1.00 goals against average and stopped 88 shots on the year. She was named the department’s Co-Outstanding Senior Female Athlete and the team’s Most Valuable Athlete at UMBC’s varsity awards banquet.  

She excelled academically, graduating from UMBC with a 3.6 GPA with degrees in sociology and psychology. She was named to the National College Athlete Honor Society in 2014, and claimed a Golden Key Scholar Program in all four seasons as an undergraduate. She was a two-time member of the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Prior to joining UMBC, Kadet led Team Ontario to the Under-16 national championship. She was a part of the Canadian National team training program and started at goalkeeper for the Canada Summer Games.

While playing at UMBC, Kadet has volunteered by coaching an under-11 boys soccer team and an under-12 girls soccer team. She also volunteered as a student mentor at a local elementary school in Baltimore.

During the summer of 2014 she was awarded the 2014 Maryland Association of College Directors of Athletics (MACDA) post-graduate scholarship. She  is currently enrolled at Georgia Southern working twards her master’s degree in criminologoy and criminal justice.

Kadet now resides in Statesboro.
