Reggie Simpkins

Reggie Simpkins joined Eagle Nation in January 2015, as the Director of Student-Athlete Services. Now working as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Services, Simpkins oversees all academic services pertaining to the Eagle Athletic program for 400 student-athletes. During his time at Georgia Southern, the student-athletes have earned a 3.0 or higher for six of the last seven years academic years, and this is the first time that this has ever taken place. Several teams have experienced some of their best academic performances on record. Simpkins and the Student-Athlete Services staff aims to provide the athletes at Georgia Southern the resources needed to help them progress towards graduation. 
 
Simpkins also has sport oversight of the Eagle men's basketball program and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the entire athletic  department.
Prior to arriving in Statesboro, Simpkins served as the Assistant Athletic Director at Louisiana Tech University. Simpkins oversaw all academic services pertaining to the Bulldog and Lady Techster athletic programs and started the first-ever stole ceremony in honoring the student-athletes that graduated.

Simpkins went to Louisiana Tech from Clemson University where he played a vital role in academics for almost 10 years. While at Clemson, Simpkins served as the Associate Director of Academic Services for two years for the Tigers, while also working closely with a variety of sports and exclusively with the offensive student-athletes for football. Simpkins also ensured that all student-athletes were meeting progress toward degrees and working toward graduation in his time at Clemson.

Prior to serving as the Associate Director of Academic Services, Simpkins began at Clemson in 2004 in the Michelin Career Center and quickly moved into the position of Assistant Director of Career Development where he provided career counseling for students and facilitated outreach workshops and presentations for classes and student organizations.


Simpkins received a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from South Carolina State University in 2001, a Master of Arts in counseling from Webster University in 2004, and a master’s of public administration from Clemson University in August of 2013. Simpkins is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education in student affairs from the University of Georgia. Simpkins is a member of N4A and has served as a faculty member for the Professional Development Institute since 2014. Reggie most recently began serving as co-chair of PDI where he assists with overseeing the implementation of five training sessions on the national level. 


Reggie is the president and co-founder of the Jo-Nathan Foundation which is a nonprofit that honors the life of his brother (Jonathan Simpkins) and this organization provides education, experiences, and exposure to youth across the states of South Carolina and Georgia. 


Simpkins is married to the former Crystal Sullivan and they have three daughters, Isley, Ilah Grace, Reagan McKenzie and a dog, Kash!
