Georgia Southern returns to action on Saturday, hosting Gardner-Webb

STATESBORO - Georgia Southern men's tennis dropped a 4-1 decision to visiting UAB on Friday afternoon at the Wallis Tennis Center.

UAB moved to 5-7 on the year with the win, snapping a three-game losing streak to the Eagles that dated back to 2022. Georgia Southern falls to 5-5 on the season with the loss. The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, hosting Gardner-Webb in a 1 p.m. contest at Wallis.

Doubles was tightly contested between the two teams and came down to a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles. The Eagles' Willy Mirarchi and Matthew Mitchell earned a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles, while UAB took No. 2 doubles. But the Blazers captured the tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles, 7-2, to earn the doubles point.

In singles, the Eagles tied things up thanks to Mirarchi's 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles, but the Blazers would clinch the victory with wins at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
