Team to shoot two matches this weekend
STATESBORO - The sixth-ranked Georgia Southern rifle squad returns to action this weekend, traveling to Charleston, South Carolina, for a pair of matches at The Citadel. The Eagles (21-2) will face 19th-ranked UAB on Friday in SoCon action and will take on eighth-ranked Navy, along with The Citadel (mixed) and The Citadel (women) on Saturday. Action begins at 8 a.m. both days with a single relay on Friday and a pair of smallbore and air rifle relays on Saturday. The matches were not on the original schedule for the season, but were added late after the Eagles had a pair of matches canceled at Ole Miss two weeks ago due to the winter storm that caused damage in Oxford.

Georgia Southern currently sits sixth in the country with a 4737.33 three-location average. The Eagles' lowest score of 4,730 at Wofford would be replaced with any score higher than that this weekend since they have not shot at The Citadel yet this season. The three-location average is 50% of the formula used to determine the eight teams that qualify for the NCAA Championships. The other 50% is determined by the NCAA Qualifier on Feb. 21.
