Eagles Take 3M Crown as Wells Sets Pool Record

STATESBORO --- The Georgia Southern dive team competed against UNC-Asheville in the 3-meter dive to begin senior weekend at the RAC's Aquatics Center this afternoon (Janury 9th).

Karlee Wells once again paced the Eagles on the board, not only setting another top-three all-time score in program history with her 316.95, but also a new pool record. For Wells, it is just the fifth time in her career of scoring over 300 in the 3-meter. McKinlee Taulbee came runner-up with a combined 519.45 across both rounds with her Finals score of 265.65 being her third highest of the season. Mackenzie Smith finished sixth with a combined 416.85; her Finals score of 209.10 was also a career best for her. Ava Mallon rounded out the roster, scoring a 317.86. Her preliminary round's total of 160.88 was also another career best for her.

Both the swim and dive teams will compete tomorrow, January 10th, as along with the Bulldogs, SCAD joins for the 1-meter dive. The swim team will face off against North Florida as well for the final home meet day of the season. With the first event starting at noon, Senior Day festivities are set to begin at 12:30.
